WORKPLACE INVESTIGATIONS

When and why to engage external investigation counsel

In regulated, public, or unionized environments, the integrity of process is paramount. Retaining external counsel can strengthen confidence in the outcome, preserve internal capacity, and reduce perceived bias, especially where matters involve senior personnel or cross-departmental issues.

Benefits

  • Reinforces credibility and neutrality

  • Protects procedural fairness

  • Timely, structured resolution

  • Defensible documentation for grievances, arbitration, or review

Collaborating with your existing counsel

External investigative work complements—not replaces—an organization’s regular counsel. Many clients keep their advisors for strategy and representation while using an external professional to conduct the fact-finding itself.

Frequently Asked

  • Yes. I regularly handle sensitive matters requiring discretion and enhanced neutrality.

  • Absolutely. I coordinate closely while preserving the independence required for a credible process.
